MP For Ketu South Municipal Assembly: All You Need To Know About Dzifa Abla Gomashie

The current MP for Ketu South Municipality is Dzifa Abla Gomashie. Ablah Dzifa Gomashie is a political activist, producer, screenwriter, and experienced actress from Ghana. She served as the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) deputy tourism minister from 2013 to 2017, while John Dramani Mahama was the country’s head of state. She is a queen mother in the Aflao Traditional Area as well as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate in the Ketu South Constituency.

Education

Patrick Dotse Gomashie and Helen Gomashie welcomed Gomashie into the world in Accra. She was born on July 25, 1965, in the Volta area and is from Aflao. She completed her secondary school at St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi before continuing her study at the University of Ghana, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in theater management, a certification in theatre arts, and an MPhil in African studies from the Institute of African Studies.

Career

When Gomashie joined the Talents Theatre Group in 1985, her acting career really got underway. She has appeared in plays such The Third Woman, Black Star, Mambo, Chaka the Zulu, and Jogolo. In addition, she has acted in a variety of films, including Ghost Tears, House of Suffering, Heart of Gold, and a number of student projects for the National Arts NAFTI. She is also a scriptwriter who created the GTV program “By The Fire Side,” which used storytelling to motivate kids to read more and improve their reading abilities, but the program is presently on pause owing to a lack of sponsors.

Along with being an actress, she also owned Mama’s Kitchen in Ashale Botwe, a restaurant that is no longer open.

Politics

She was chosen and appointed by President John Dramani Mahama in 2013 to serve as the deputy minister of tourism, arts, and culture, a position she maintained until her party, the NDC, lost the elections and passed power to the new administration in 2017.

She ran for and received the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nomination to represent the Ketu South seat in the 2020 elections on August 24, 2019. She received 586 votes, while the losing candidates, Nicholas Worklatsi, Joseph Nyavi, and Foga Nukunu, received 555, 294, and 302 votes, respectively.

Committees

Gomashie is a member of the Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Committee as well as the Poverty Reduction Strategy Committee.

Personal life

Martin K.G. Ahiaglo, who passed away, was married to Gomashie. There was no kid born to the couple. Dzifa had a son from an earlier union.

Honor

The 3Music Awards’ organizers recognized Gomashie for her accomplishments in Ghana’s entertainment sector.
